Family Home: Warrenville, IL

This homeowner contacted us after having a water drain break in the utility room damaging the sanded solid oak floor in the living room.

The floor was originally installed over concrete and trapped waste water on the concrete surface. The wood floor was severely damaged and cupped and starting to buckle at the center.

The homeowner asked if it could be sanded and finished. We told her that due to the trapped bacteria, high moisture and extreme expansion of the floorboards that a total replacement was the only way to restore her floor.

Complete Flooring recommended and installed a 1/8” thick red oak engineered floating engineered floor.

The reason for floating the floor was so the concrete could continue to have air flow and the 1/8” veneer could be abraded and receive a recoat in the future.
